Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA): Step-by-Step Surgical Photo Tour • Step 10 of 24

Surgical Step Description
Placement of the extramedullary tibial cutting guide aligned with the mechanical axis of the tibia (parallel to the anterior crest and aimed at the second metatarsal) to execute a perpendicular 10 mm proximal tibial resection.
Master Class Pro-Tip: Intraoperative Pearl
The extramedullary tibial cutting guide must be securely pinned both proximally and distally prior to saw initiation; rotational drift during the tibial resection represents the most prevalent contributor to post-operative varus malalignment.
