Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA): Step-by-Step Surgical Photo Tour • Step 1 of 24

Surgical Step Description
Operating table configuration with an ipsilateral bump placed under the hip/pelvis and a sterile paint-roller device positioned at the level of the tibial tubercle. This configuration allows the knee to be maintained stably in active 90° to 100° flexion throughout the procedure with minimal physical support required from surgical assistants.
Master Class Pro-Tip: Intraoperative Pearl
Neutralize excessive hip external rotation with the pelvic bump so the leg naturally rests at 90°–100° flexion without manual holding. Preventing rotational sag ensures true anteroposterior orientation during subsequent bone cuts and instrumentation.
