Answer (click for answer)
X-rays sow a shoulder hemiarthroplasty in a superiorly migrated position in relation to the shoulder girdle. The x-rays do not show any gross evidence of loosening. The head is appropriately sized for an arthropathy type replacement and seated well in the humeral canal. The coracoacromial arch is not well viewed on this view (the prosthesis is in fact in front and above it). Instability of the coracoacromial arch is a well documented cause of superior migration of humeral head prostheses. Superior migration is not associated with subscapularis tears (in isolation).
